Meet the Photographer’s

Tony Kalacanic:

I spent a lot of my youth in a camera shop that my mother was a partner in. From the time I was about 10 years old, I’ve been learning camera’s, taking pictures, as well as processing techniques. From the time I turned 14, I was going on wedding shoots with my mother and her partner, and at these shoots I was in charge of picture tracking, helping set up the poses, getting people ready that were next up for a picture, and candids at the receptions. We did this till I was 17, and the shop was sold, but from there I continued my work in cameras, spending a couple of years as the head salesman for the photo and electronics department at Witmark department stores. From there I went on to Ritz Camera and worked with them for 2 more years as a lead salesman. I’ve been out of the camera business itself now for the last 10 years, but have continued to stay up to date with the happenings in the industry, and how the equipment has improved over the years. During this time, I have continued shooting weddings on the side, primarily for friends, and friends of friends.
